Babylonia are a group formed by Max Giunta and Robbie Rox.
The band began in Milan in 2003 with the release of the single Without Asking Me. Their debut album LATER TONIGHT (2006) then followed and was well received by the music press with glowing reviews. The album was supported by a series of concerts across Europe, including Berlin, Frankfurt, Prague, Bratislava, Paris and others. The group have also been the opening act for various cult bands like Client, IAMX and Melotron. In 2008 Babylonia won an award at the Meeting of Independent Labels in Faenza in the electronic music category.
In January 2010 Babylonia released their second album MOTEL LA SOLITUDE with the help of the sound engineer Marco Barusso (Nek, Lacuna Coil, Modà, HIM, Eros Ramazzotti). The singles lifted from the album (By My Side, Myself Into Myself and Ethereal Connection) were a great success on Italian radio stations, as were the videos, directed by Stefano Bertelli (Cristina Donà, Caparezza), which were shown on the main Italian music TV channels. The band toured many Italian and European cities, including Moscow, Barcelona, Istanbul, Bratislava, Madrid and St Petersburg and were chosen by the PET SHOP BOYS to open their Italian tour.
On 29 June 2011 Babylonia were shaken by the untimely passing of Robbie Rox, but to honour everything the band had been through together over the years, Max decided to carry on with the Babylonia project and THE ETHEREAL COLLECTION was released – a limited edition, numbered vinyl LP created as a tribute to Robbie. The album contains the heartrending ballad IO SONO IL DESERTO written by Robbie and featuring a special appearance by ALICE, famous for her hit Per Elisa.
In September 2012 the third album TALES OF LOVING HEARTS was released: a special project that contains new tracks and some covers (including Fortissimo by Rita Pavone, La sua Figura by Giuni Russo and Of All The Things We’ve Made by OMD).
The profits from the CD were donated to the “Cane Amico” dog’s home in memory of Robbie’s love of animals.
In June 2015 Babylonia returned with the new single LOVE IS HEALING, a song with a totally international feel produced by Steve Lyon, the famous London-based producer who has worked on albums by artists of the calibre of Depeche Mode, Subsonica, The Cure and Laura Pausini, and mastered by Ted Jensen of the Sterling Sound Studio in New York.
A fourth album, MULTIDIMENSIONAL, was released on 30 October 2015 by Universal Music.
